We began with a deep dive into YLS's brand perception through a custom brand discovery phase, interviewing a cross-section of loyal and occasional customers. This research captured invaluable insights into how YLS was viewed in the community, what customers loved most, and where there were opportunities to grow. The findings painted a clear picture of a beloved neighborhood spot with strong community ties, an outstanding menu, and a personality that customers described as friendly, warm, and familiar.
From this foundation, we created a robust messaging framework tailored to support both current and future Orange County marketing efforts. This included clearly defined brand voice and tone guidelines, a new brand value statement, audience-specific messaging, and content pillars. We also identified three core customer personas, each with unique needs and expectations, to guide targeted communications across social media, email, and in-store touchpoints. The messaging strategy emphasized local charm, quality, and connection with flexibility to grow alongside the brand as it expands.
